It's been a frantic last couple of games for all Maidenhead teams as we have been beset by injuries and availability issues. So, with the end of the season only 3 matches away, here is the latest news for all teams.

Maidenhead 1

At the beginning of February Maidenhead 1 were at home to University 2 in a top of the table clash. Unfortunately, Maidenhead narrowly lost 3 rubbers to 2 (13 games to 10).

16th Feb saw Maidenhead 1 away to Royal Berkshire 2 and, despite again having a weakened team, ran out winners by 3 -2 (9 games to 6).

With 3 matches to go, the 1st team are in 3rd place and only 5 points behind University 2 in the battle for 2nd spot and a promotion place.

Current standings in Division 2B are:

Maidenhead 2

On the 2nd Feb, Maidenhead 2 were away to Bracknell 4 in a Top vs Bottom clash. James' lost his first game, and Jon came back from 6-1 down in his 3rd but other than that pretty much plain sailing, particularly for Dave and Alex, and a 5-0, 20 points to 1 victory. Thank you to Jason for playing through a cracked-rib and providing an entertaining final match for the gallery.

Last week saw the 2nds at home to Beechdown 1.

Another good win for the 2nds that keeps us top of the league. We are 14 points ahead of Bounty 3 but they have a game (worth up to 20 points) in hand. Looks like it could be set-up for a showdown when Bounty come to us on the last day of the season.

A strong performance despite suffering from call-ups to the 1sts for 3 of our regular players.

Jamie Mcanally stepped in to cover for Jason, and play his first game for the club since 2014. Some good lengths and an ability to get to the ball at the last moment when it appears it is simply too far away was too much for his opponent.

Jon and Jerry were playing a father/son pair at #4 and #5. Both won the first, but lost their 2nd games, then bounced back strongly in the 3rd (Jon winning 9 straight points) and held on in the 4th to give Maidenhead an unassailable 3-0 lead. It was left to Alex, and then Seb to finish Beechdown off with 2 impressive victories.

And the current standings in Division 3B are:

Maidenhead 3

On the 2nd Feb, Maidenhead 3 were away to Wellington 5 in a top of the table clash.

We managed to filed a pretty strong team bolstered by the Mistry father and son combination. We started with our #5 and #4 string matches and Richard and Kieran ran out quick and easy victories on both.

However, we knew Wellington would be stronger at the top of the order and so it proved. Janak and Jerry lost at #1 and #3 leaving Andrew on court with their #2 string to battle it out for the victory. After a titanic 5 game battle Andrew just lost out resulting in Wellington 5 taking a 3-2 win.

Last week saw the 5th team struggling to field team but thanks to Mark Fish and Jean Mooij who stepped in at the 11th hour we managed to give Army 2 a game.

We had beaten Army 2 in the away fixture before Christmas but knew their top string was missing then. This time he turned up strengthening their team considerably.

Again we started with the #4 and #5 strings and, again, both Richard and Jean completed relatively easy wins. Mark Fish at #3 was on court next knowing a win would give us the victory overall and take the pressure of Janak and Kiran at #1 and #2 - and he didn't disappoint with a comfortable victory 3-0.

It was then left to Janak and Kieran to take on their top strings who, as suspected, were just too strong. Janak pushed Warren all the way and a special mention to Kieran who gave their 2nd string Paul a great battle and only narrowly lost 3-2 in games.

This leaves Maidenhead 3 in 3rd place in the division but only a single point behind Wellington 5 with 3 to play!

The current standings in Division 4B are:
