01 How to use the online league

The following guide will introduce you to the Maidenhead Squash League online system so you can enter your scores and arrange games as simply as possible.

SquashLevels is the most popular website for capturing squash results from the world number 1 down to league players all over the world:

  1. Desktop (includes Twitter sidebar)

  2. Mobile friendly (excludes Twitter sidebar)

02 The league view

Above is the default view of the system and will show all boxes (divisions) in the league on the same page so you can simply scroll down to view the box of interest.

Players in each box are ranked according to the number of points they have scored - if two players have the same score their head to head score will dictate who is higher in the box.

Clicking on any name in the table will show a summary page of the player's level (see below) and their recent match history.

Actual match scores (e.g. 3-1) are displayed in the boxes rather than the points for the match (5-2) . The total points in the final column for each player are calculated automatically based on the following point allocation:

05 Contacting other players

When logged in you will see players' email addresses and mobile numbers.  To arrange a game, you can

  • Phone

  • WhatsApp or text individual players.  Some players setup a WhatsApp group for their box.

  • Email: In the SquashLevels box view, click on their email address to open a new email to that player in your default email program on your PC/phone.  To contact all players in a specific box, click 'mail all in box' at the top of the contact details column.  You must have a default email program or app set up on your PC or phone (e.g. Outlook etc.) for the email links to work. If you use Gmail for your emails on a PC, please follow these instructions on how to set Gmail as the browser's default email client.  If you have any problems with setting up your email then let us know and we'll be glad to help.

Note: Either way of entering scores can be used - it will not affect how your league scores and position is calculated. However, entering individual game scores allows your level to be calculated more accurately by the system (see below). It may also be of interest when viewing previous match results in your history.

07 Injuries during a game

If you are injured during a game, then you can enter the score at the point the game ended in the usual way.

In addition you can click the injured icon next to the injured players name as highlighted in the screen shot below.

Note that scores entered when a player is injured are not included in the level calculations.

08 Dropping out of the league due to injury

If you are unable to continue playing in the current box league because of injury there are a couple of steps to take.

1. Contact the other players in your box to let them know you will no longer be taking part using the Mail All feature of the system

2. Send us an email to let us know and we can update the system to show you are injured as shown for Tony Mullan in the box below:

09 Claiming a walkover

To claim a walkover enter W on your name and 0 (zero) on your opponent's name.  Please enter this in the match score not the individual game scores.  See Rule 05 for details.

10 Your level

Next to your name in the league table you will see a column called 'Level'.

squash-levels.JPG

For those who aren't familiar with SquashLevels, this is a ranking system which gives all player a score based on their results against other players: essentially the higher your score, the better.

The following is a summary of what your SquashLevel means:

  • < 100 - beginner

  • 500 - played for a while

  • 1,000 - average team/league player - lot of players are in this region

  • 2,500 - good enough to play in the A graded tournaments

  • 5,000 - good enough to represent your county

  • 10,000 - top county

  • 20,000 - good enough to play PSL - you need to be this good to turn professional

  • 35,000 - good enough to play PSA - you won't get past the qualifiers otherwise

  • 80,000 - world number one!

If you see TBD next to your name it is because you haven't played any games yet against a player with a level. The system will start calculating your level when you log your first game against a player with a level.

SquashLevels is popular as a measure to see if your game is improving over time and also to get an idea of how good your next opponent may be!

If you click on a players name in the boxes you will see a list of their recent results and how their level changed over time.

You can see current Maidenhead player levels here >>

It has proven to be a popular website for some of our players to assess how good an opponent may be and also to provide a measure of how well you have played and whether your game is improving (or deteriorating!). You can read more about how the ranking system works on their website here >>
