Recent match reports from the Berkshire Squash Winter League before the Christmas break have been a bit patchy since Christmas - we'll try and get back on track! So the following is a quick summary to bring you up to date with how each team has done since Christmas

Maidenhead 1

Maidenhead 1 had no game the first week back and last week were away to Hart 2 who are currently top of division 2. A tight game saw Maidenhead 1 lose narrowly by 3 matches to 2 to remain 3rd in the division but still with a chance to take the 2nd spot.

Current standings in Division 2B are:

Maidenhead 2

Maidenhead 2 have played twice since the Christmas break. Their first game saw them take a convincing win away to Aldermaston 3 losing just a single close match on the night.

Last week saw the 2nds at home in a top of the table clash with The Real Fitness First. In Jon's own words:

A great result that catapults us back to the top of the table. These opponents had beaten us before Christmas, and pretty much an identical team had beaten our 1sts in the previous season. We started off with Darren and James at string 1 and 2; their energy and athleticism paid dividends with both opponents just not comprehending how the ball was still in play at times. They recorded fantastic 3-0's.

Jon and Dave went on next. Both much tighter games seesawing between each player. Jon just had the upper hand in his 5th, whilst Dave had run out of puff and went down 3-2. Jason was last up against Malcolm. The 50+ year age gap and a skiing injury (what else do you do when you are 65!) meant that Jason was far too strong and he saw it out pretty quickly. 4-1 and 19-5.

Next up is a trip to Bracknell 4 on 2nd Feb.

And the current standings in Division 3B are:

Maidenhead 3

Maidenhead 3 started the year with a tricky trip to Caversham PV. Unfortunately for us, their 5th string had to drop out and they had to draft in a stronger player which had the effect of strengthening the entire team!

And whilst we had one of our stronger teams available we lost out by 4 games to 1 with Caversham just a little bit too strong on the night,

Last week the 3rds were due to play David Lloyd Newbury at home but sadly the game had to be cancelled as the opposition could not put a team out so we took a 20-0 walkover.

Currently the 3rds lie 3rd in division 4A where it is very tight at the top. Next week sees a trip to 2nd place Wellington 5 in a must win game if the 3rds are going to challenge for that 2nd spot.

The current standings in Division 4B are:
